From: Matt Casters NETPOINT BE> Date: 8 sep 1997 Subject: GSDB 2.5.1 Dear Shogi-L, Just a quick mail to let you know that the Gnu Shogi Database has received yet another face-lift this week-end. This is mainly because at the European Championships the program was tested and changes were proposed by several people (or necessary) : - A "new" button to enter a new game - more messages in dialogboxes to let you know what's happening. - export to ASCII formats ('!' and '@' buttons) - support for Reijer Grimbergens Kifu format [(1) see below] - a lot of bugfixes like for the flip-bug :-) Also, we have now 857 games in the database. 91 of these games come from the latest European Championships. Special thanks goes to Thomas Majewski for entering 45 games from score-sheet ! (I know how bad I write so I know the work that goes into this) I noticed that more and more people start to use the database. Maybe because GSDB is now becoming more and more useable :-) As allways, GSDB is available for you, completely free at : http://www.netpoint.be/shogi/gsdb/ Have fun, Matt Casters (1) If you want to play through a game of Reijer Grimbergens column "This week in Shukan Shogi" you can do this by copying the game from the mail into the GSDB Decode window. Don't forget to select Kifu format. You can copy comments and everything for example : Black: Sato Yasumitsu, Challenger White: Habu Yoshiharu, Oi 38th Oi-sen, Game 5, August 28th and 29th 1997 1.P7g-7f 2/2 0/0 2.P3c-3d 0/2 1/1 ... Not a lot of testing has been done on this format so let me know if this works for you (or not) matt netpoint be
