From: Matt Casters INNET BE> Date: 17 nov 1997 Subject: The 1st JavaShogi Tournament (3) Dear Shogi-L, Please allow me to make some more publicity for the JavaShogi tournament. on the internet. Some people asked me what it is and how this tournament is organised. Please bear in mind that since such a tournament has never been tried before, it's a big test. The names and e-mail addresses and grades of all the participants are now being collected. (before 22-nov-97) From 3-12 on, the participants will receive an E-mail telling them the name of their oponent, the grade and e-mail address. This way the 2 players can agree on a time-period during which they will both be logged onto the JavaShogi server. The players will then play a 30 minutes game with 30 seconds byoyomi. After the game, the contents of the history window (a new feature of the JavaShogi client) has to be sent to Dick Iwakura by the winner of the game. The data in the history window contains all the information needed. (names/times/kifu/score) If you loose, you're out of-course, but if you win, a next round has to be played. Take this chance to play in a BIG tournament. Allready more then 160 people have subscribed ! Try it out first if you're still in not sure : http://www.info.waseda.ac.jp/muraoka/shogi/index.html Kind regards, Matt Casters
