Subject: First Draft of Rules of Shogi

I am a 2-dan player of shogi. Incidentally, this is a hard rating. I got
that through the promotion process of winning eight games in a row at the
Shinjuku Shogi Center.

I have been asked by two different people to write a brief description of
the rules of shogi. To my surprise, the rules do not seem to be posted
anywhere, as least not so far as I know.

As a result, I have written some rules. I am sending them now to the shogi
discussion group. I would like for you all to proof read what I have written
and to point out any errors or corrections which need to be made.

Also, any suggestions on how I can improve on this would be greatly appreciated.

Remember, this is a first draft. Doubtless there will be errors and places
where improvement is needed.
