I've tried this and many other things, but no success. Frankly, I've given up trying to play shogi on the internet. I think lots of chess people would play shogi, if only a decent site comparable to FICS were available. The popularity of bughouse and even suicide chess just proves the point. Furthermore, I'm not interested in travelling hundreds or thousands of miles to play in shogi tournaments with a 20 minute time limit! Maybe, the Japanese have the right idea about this: "Amateurs don't know what to think about anyway, so don't give them a lot of time." However, I'm used to chess tournaments where 40/2 is the standard for serious games. Playing by e-mail does not appeal to me.
