From: Matt Casters NETPOINT BE> Date: 7 jan 1997 Subject: GSDB 1.7 Hello Shogi-L, The new version of the Shogi Database is running in test on : http://www.netpoint.be/shogi/gsdb/ I entered some games I found on Shogi-L (originally entered by our friend Reijer Grimbergen) I started with the Kio games from 1991,1992,1993,1994 and 1995. All these tournaments were won by Mr. Habu by the way. I can recommend the replay-match of the 1st game of the 18th Kio championships : Tanigawa vs Habu. A game that reached a symmetrical possition at move 20 afther which Tanigawa sacrifices 4 pawns to win the game. (6-feb-1993) Anyway, I can recommend all the Shogi-L games. They can be found on Pieter's shogi-pages... and soon on the GSDB server. As with previous versions you need a java-capable browser to access GSDB. For the people with a fire-wall : this is a client-server application communicating on TCP/IP port 54321 and you should allow communications over this port through the fire-wall. Otherwise you can't access the server. I would like to hear what you think about the application and how you would improve it. I'm sure this thing has a lot of bugs in it. Please report them to me. I would specially like to thank Sean Russel who provided the Java Database engine with which the server is running. His jDB project can be found on http://jersey.uoregon.edu/ser/software/jDB/doc/index.html Peace, --matt P.S. I will put the complete source AND data available in a couple of days as well as some documentation.
