The answer is yes.
7 G7h and 8 G3b (rather than the illegal 7 P7h and 8 P3b) were intended.

Mr. Terao answers a different question, that being:
Q: What would happen if one side or the other attacked by pushing
   the rook's pawn instead of defending with the Gold?

It turns out that in both cases, defending with the Gold is best.
