I still play shogi on 6969, although, with only a few Japanese go players who will stop to play shogi with me. I could find more opponents, but the problem is, the go players' interface has to be disabled and it's difficult to explain how to do that. The secret of my success is to NOT type "who all 3" to find the shogi players. (There are none.) But to type "user jp" which will list all the Japanese players. Then start asking those not playing go, "Do you play shogi?". That is how I am able to play shogi at 6969. > >Regarding the address igs.nuri.net:4444, this used to be a valid >address for playing shogi but the site administrators had a hard disk >crash over half a year ago now and it hasn't been working since. > This was never very active. I never saw more than 5 players online at the same time. That's probably why it has never been re-established. There is no reason why 6969 can't be used, if people who just logon and stay logged on for awhile. Even at 4444 I had to stay logged on for an hour before an opponent came along. Probably, if a letter were sent to all the members listed on the shogi players' list, this would generate some shogi activity on 6969. The players' list can also be used to introduce yourself to an opponent and agree to a playing time. However, this is a tedious procedure which is why it's not done.
