9696 is incorrect.  It should be 6969 (i.e. telnet://igs.nuri.net:6969),
or you could use 7777.  I think Colin Adams was right when he said no
one seems to use IGS anymore though.


Regarding the address igs.nuri.net:4444, this used to be a valid
address for playing shogi but the site administrators had a hard disk
crash over half a year ago now and it hasn't been working since.

Well, I don't use a Mac to access the internet, but I was wondering if
anyone has tried using the latest beta of Netscape 3.0 or an alternative
browser such as HotJava (available for the Mac?) or the applet viewer
that comes with the Java Developers Kit to access JavaShogi?


Maybe Mac users should petition the author of JavaShogi
(ryo <at> muraoka <dot> info <dot> waseda <dot> ac <dot> jp) to ask him to get JavaShogi working for
the Mac.  It couldn't do any harm...
