From: Benjamin Good ANDREW CMU EDU> Date: 28 oct 1996 Subject: tenjiku and dai (and chu and wa) shogi this is the third time i'm sending this message cause they mail system sent it back to me, saying it was undeliverable even tho i had sent another mail to this same address moments before. so sorry if this is the third time you're recieving this mail. as i mentioned before, i recently recieved my dai and tenjiku shogi instructions in the mail. needless to say, i am anxious to play both. unfortunately, i have nobody to play with. so i am looking for people who would be interested in playing by email with me. i don't know if an ascii tenjiku or dai board would fit in everybody's email screen, or even be very useful. so it may end up that we simply send a game record back and forth w/ our new moves, and keep track of what the board actually looks like w/ our own sets. games will be slow and long. this is not ideal, but it is better than my current alternative, which is to not play at all. if anyone wants to play tenjiku, dai, chu, or wa (wa w/ or w/o drops) with me, or knows of another venue for playing these games, please let me know. thanks. also, i have tried to run phil hollands shogi variant computer program w/o success. i have asked my friends who know a great deal more about computers than i do to get it to run for me, and they have also not been successful. if anyone knows any secrets about getting it to run, please let me know. thanks, ben bg18 andrew cmu edu
