Having been working on narazu tsumeshogi lately in a book I've got, I will say that I've never had the situation occur personally where I don't promote a rook or bishop, but I am starting to look over the situation before I just blindly flip it over. I'd be REAL upset if I lost because I did promote. :) BTW, I'm all for keeping the discussion on shogi-L. I enjoy discussion on a discussion list. How long were we all "chatting" about western notation? :) Tony
