And to think I look forward to receiving mail from the List members every day just so The Immortal Game's name be taken in vain... But seriously, I think Shogi is a very exciting game and I would like to get better at it just so I can enjoy it more. One option is to learn Japanese, go to Japan, and be immersed in the culture, and get to know the wonderful Japanese people and the game of Shogi in the best possible setting. Only if I could. Thus far, I've only been able to enjoy Uni at the local Sushi restaurant, Arigato. Another option is to request the Shogi Experts on this List to help me out: Are there Experts out there willing to share what they THINK when they make a move? That is, I'd like to know the MOTIVATION behind a move as opposed to tactical lines of analysis. If we could have one person a day(?) share his or her thoughts on this List, I know I, for one, would benefit tremendously. Yet another thought is to have two Experts play via E-mail, cc'd to the List. This pseudo-live exercise can be annotated afterwards. Now, this would be ACTIVE discussion. Peace, Payam Afkham-Ebrahimi P.S. Many thanks for keeping it uncensored...
