In professional go players there are many female players as strong as male players. In professional shogi no female player has 4 or more dan which is rated among male players, though some female players have beaten male players many times. I think most of women don't prefer to killing or capturing enemy pieces, but enclosing own land on go board is more peaceful action and does not seem savage. My wife hates me when I play shogi or watch shogi TV program. She has never been interested in playing shogi. But she seems to be interested in humorous personality of professional shogi players.
