I had a change to give it a quick gander and I noticed that 1) there
is a mistake. My guess is that perhaps the promoted silver on 8i is
in fact a promoted silver. (The point being that if Black doesnot
checkmate white, he will be checkmated ...)

In the configuration given, the white King needs only escape to 1b
and he will eventually exhausts blacks supply of silvers!!!
