However, I seem to recall that the multi-byte interrupt call only existed in some (earlier) DOS versions, but not in the western.. (This is used to control how characters are coded; with these differing alphabets, some extended ASCII codes indicate the start of a two-byte code that should be translated using the appropriate code page.)
