From: Dick Iwakura HK NTTDATA NET> Date: 5 jun 1996 Subject: Meijin Match No.5 6/5 Dear Shogi Friends; Since nobody reports the result of Meijin Match No.5 done yesterday, I am going to write you as follows : Result: Habu won the game and protected Meijin Holder at 4-1 from Moriuchi. I have heard from Shogi Renmei at 5:00 pm last evening that Moriuchi was much superior at that time but perphaps Habu Magic came out at the final stage of the fight (maybe). I was waked up by very early morning call from Japan and knew the result. Since my fax machine (Made in Korea) was broken now, I can not get the score of this game. I believe Reijer will give us the detailed report next week. Shukan Shogi of this week could not catch the time of this game. Nobody can beat Habu at the moment (maybe the opponent of the next generation!?) His next match is Kisei-Sen with Miura 5 Dan. No doubt! Habu will win 3-0 as he is especially very strong for one day match like this Kisei-Sen or Kiou-Sen etc. If he would loose one game, this might be his trial of new possible strategy and also other trial of breaking existing Shogi formula as same as Meijin match No.4 this time. If Habu could have won the No.4 game, Super 4th Rook Mr.Kenji Kobayashi had to stop issuing his all text books, so he can sleep well now!? Best regards Dick Iwakura a pupil of Kenji Kobayashi
