From: Hiroki Kawada MERL HITACHI CO JP> Date: 3 jun 1996 Subject: Automatic interpreters I found yesterday, being relaxed in bathtub, that we will not have to discuss on notations when automatic interpreters will be commonly used in ten-year-future (too early or late?). A Japanese player types in or speaks comments using "76Fu" to a handy computer which immediately translates it and speaks whole of the comments in many languages, vice versa. Perhaps in very near future we will laugh over a lot of discussion happened on notations here. I don't care which notation is now used, as far as it does not interfere the others' communication or does not forces others to use a specific notation. Advanced technology will soon wipe away this kind of inconvenience. (An notation exchanger is already in progress as I saw here.) Pawn (Kyo-sha, Bauer) goes ahead in any countries even if it is called "Pawn", "Kyo-sha" or "Bauer". It is essential and never changes in shogi even by advanced technology.
