From: Reijer Grimbergen ETL GO JP> Date: 31 jul 1996 Subject: Kisei match final game (RESULT) THE IMPOSSIBLE HAS HAPPENED: HABU LOSES TITLE!!! Yesterday Miura won the fifth and final game of the Kisei match. As a result the 22-year old challenger has come from 2-1 behind to take the title from Habu. Habu wakes up from his seven crown dream to find that he is no longer the only title holder in professional Shogi. Miura, only 5-dan and only from C1 Junisen class is there with him for at least a year. It is the first title match Habu lost since the Osho match in January 1995. However, on a question by a reporter if he was going to try and get the seven crowns again, he answered "so desu ne", which is a rather low-key "yes" ;-). Let's wait and see how Habu copes with the shock of defeat. After all, he is not really used to that :-).
