From: Michael Facer LAVA NET> Date: 30 jan 1996 Subject: Japanese on the Web Hi, First of all I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Mike Facer and I've just started on the Shogi Disc.List. I live in Honolulu ,Hawaii. The local Shogi players meet everyday at waikiki beach from around noon. If anybody should be visiting Hawaii ,they're invited to stop in and play. We're just a small group, but at least a couple of guys show up every day. We meet at the covered pavilion between the sidewalk and the beach. (directly across from the Pacific Beach Hotel) Secondly, since I've been poking around the web, I've come across various Shogi links that lead to pages that are entirely or partly in Japanese, and I was wondering how I could get my computer to display the actual Japanese. I don't recall any of the shogi pages explaining how to do this, but now I've found a way. If you go to the web site Shodouka Launchpad ( URL is: http://csclub.uwaterloo.ca/u/kryee/shodouka/), you can enter in the URL of any Japanese web page and the shodouka launchpad will display the japanese for you. From there you can follow any of the links as you normally would-all in Japanese. Maybe this has been discussed before and you already know this. In that case, I'd just like to suggest to those maintaining web pages with japanese links, that they provide this information on their page. I'm sure it would be very useful to other beginners like me. Thanks.
