That is true, Chu shogi and beyond do not have drops, but that doesn't keep some fans from playing it with drops (not me btw). George Hodges says about Wa Shogi, that it can be played with or without drops, but is propably intended without. The players in the Postal Wa-Shogi Worldchampionship play it with drops though. The board (11 x 11) is quite large compared to the rather slow movements of the pieces. Another note to my last mail.
