From: KAMIMURA Hiroshi PO HARENET OR JP> Date: 29 jan 1996 Subject: From the scratch Dear Reijer-san, Thank you very much for your letter and comments on my standpoint. Let me point out, however, that there is still something unclear which might turn all the things vain. We need to get what is certain in this arguement. Then, let's make it clear from the scratch. On Jan 14 letter you wrote; :During the Osho-sen I had a discussion with Aono about the notation of :games. It seems that the Renmei is planning to make an international :standard for Shogi game notation. I have already spent some time thinking :about this and have some very clear opinions about it. However, Aono :rightly suggested to have an international discussion before making :any decisions. What we can see and guess on the aboves are; 1. You and Aono san had a discusion (or a talk or a chat?). 2. Renmei(JSR) is planning to make an international standard for Shogi game notation. 3. Aono suggested you to have an international discussion before making any discussion. I don't know whether it's correct or not, and to what degree. On 1, I think that is true. On 2, I can hardly believe it. It's different from what I have heard from some staff there. Is it sure that AONO san said that ? If so, it's quite a surprise. On 3 also, I'm not sure. You wrote "Aono rightly suggested". Thanks to my experience with JSR and all the Japanese, I think that following interpretations are possible as follows; a. AONO belived that it's important to have an discussion which might give them hints to ponder upon. b. AONO believed it necessary to have an international discussion and make it reflected what were discussed there. c. It was officially determined in the board meeting in JSR to sound overall comments from something like international discuusions and AONO disclosed to you what was decided there. d. You were officially asked by AONO to have international discussion on Shogi notation so that the JSF can refer it before making the decision. What's the right interpretation, or no one gets right? Please advise us of your interpretation based on the fact as what we discuss here might be "reduit aux cendres". with regards, K. "Sunny" SANO (KFF00705 niftyserve or jp)
