From: Jens Mueller-Koppe GESCHICHTE UNI-BREMEN DE> Date: 29 jan 1996 Subject: Shogi Files, Postal Shogi, Commentaries, Newsgroup After six days on this server I came to know quite a lot of things about the Shogi szene. Thanks a lot to everybody who has passed me some informations by the last days! Today I have some short questions, answers and commentaries from my side: 1) ??? How can you load down files which obviously exists somewere on the server? I heard that there are files like SHOGI BOOKS, SHOGI ADRESSES and SHOGI GAMES! Am I able to access? 2) Thanks to Phil Holland for the invitation to the Postal Shogi League! I think joining this League or/and the Shogi Ladder will be a good step to go for me in a few weeks. Now I want to try out in one e-mail game against George G. Jost, Canada if I like to play Postal Shogi and if I will play Shogi in such a continious way that it makes sense to join. 3) !!! (Will Sexton, Commentaries) I think it is a graet idea to start collective commentaries and discussions on instructive pro games or during e-mail games here on the server. I (as a beginner) would be very happy if there will be something like thast here! But I know that my place would be on the consumers side for a while, ... 4) !!! (Newsgroup) There are a lot of people browsing through the newsgroups looking for interessant and new games, some even for strategic and complex games like Shogi! So I think it would be a very good idea to start a newsgroup. It is much more the athmosphere of an open club house were everybodyx can look in if he wants. I agree that it is the best way to have a list and a newsgroup. 5) ?!? (Josh Sager, Server) I am very interested if somebody knows an answer to Josh`s question. Were can one play Shogi on a server (IGS, are there other ones?) with a Windows (3.11) client.
