From: Jens Mueller-Koppe GESCHICHTE UNI-BREMEN DE> Date: 29 jan 1996 Subject: Shogi Files, Postal Shogi, Commentaries, Newsgroup After six days on this server I came to know a lot of things about the Shogi szene that I never knew before! Thanks to everybody who passed me some informations through the Internet. A few questions, answers and commentaries from my side: 1) ??? Where can I find files according to this list like SHOGI BOOKS, SHOGI GAMES and SHOGI ADRESSES? 2) Thanks to Phil Holland inviting me to join the Postal Shogi League. I think to join there and/or the Shogi Ladder will be a good disicion for me - in a few weeks. Now I started one e-mail game against George G. Jost, Canada. And that will be something like a test for me whether I like to play Postal Shogi and whether I will play Shogi in such a continous way that it makes sense to play in those ligues. (Well, up to now the Shogi fever is still growing, ...) 3) !!! (Will Sexton, Commentaries) I think to start an initiative in doing collective commentaries and discussions here about instructive pro games or during e-mail games is a VERY good idea! I would be very happy if there will be something like that in this list (knowing that my place will be only at the consumers side for a while, ...) 4) !!! (Shogi Newsgroup) Many people are browsing through the newsgroup, especially people who are interested in playing interessant and new games, some of them even in playing strategical and complicated games (like Shogi). So if there is the wish to popularize the game, going out of the inside athmosphere of a listserver will be a very good idea. (I agree that there are many reasons to have the list AND the newsgroup) 5) !?! (Josh Sager, Shogi Server) I am looking forward if somebody has an answer to Josh`s question! Where can I play on a server with a Windows (3.11) client??! Please, don`t be angry about my horrible english (it`s Monday morning) Jens Mueller-Koppe mkoppe zfn uni-bremen de mkoppe geschichte uni-bremen de Schanzendorfer Str. 9 28307 Bremen Germany (49) 0421 481773
