In my opinion blindfold shogi is an order of a magnitude more difficult than blindfold western chess, thai chess or xianchi. The reversed rank and row numbering is only a minor annoyance in respect to the difficulties of a visual representation of shogi position. As far as I know it is not common practice of shogi professionals to have blindfold simultaneous exhibitions as it used to be some time with chess. I believe the current record for chess is by a Hungarian master with 65 simultaneous blindfold games. Even for Habu this would be an impossible task to do with shogi. I was told professionals occasionally play only a single blindfold game. Does anyone has more information about this?
