From: Reijer Grimbergen ETL GO JP> Date: 24 jan 1996 Subject: Osho match game 2 Dark clouds gather over the head of Lightning Speed Tanigawa. These are tough times for one of the most exciting players of all. Also for fans like me, who try to buy every book that Tanigawa ever wrote. Therefore, it is hard for me to be objective watching the Osho match. Of course, Habu is probably the greatest player the game has ever known (even though it will take him at least another fifteen years to get more major titles than Oyama). And yes, getting all seven majors is an exciting prospect. Still, there was pain in my heart when I read in this morning's paper that Habu won the second game of the Osho match. Both players followed the Joseki in the Bogin against Shikenbisha for a long time. A couple of years ago this variation was thought to be analyzed to the bone and hardly any professional games were played with it. However, there seems to be a small revival lately. Tanigawa made the first small mistake, but things were far from clear. A difficult endgame was finally won by Habu by one move.
