From: Reijer Grimbergen ETL GO JP> Date: 13 jan 1996 Subject: International game notation During the Osho-sen I had a discussion with Aono about the notation of games. It seems that the Renmei is planning to make an international standard for Shogi game notation. I have already spent some time thinking about this and have some very clear opinions about it. However, Aono rightly suggested to have an international discussion before making any decisions. Very wise and very Japanese (which is not always the same :-)), especially since I know of at least five different systems of notation currently used. Well, what better platform for starting an international discussion than our good old Shogi-L? Of course it is only a first step, since there are still many international Shogi officials who are not (yet) on E-mail, but please let me know your educated opinions (or uneducated, for that matter). This is the time for your voice to be heard in an important matter that concernd us all. I prefer an open discussion on the Shogi-L, but for those who are too shy to raise their voices, there is also my private mailbox (grimberg etl go jp).
