From: Reijer Grimbergen ETL GO JP> Date: 5 feb 1996 Subject: Osho-sen game 3 HABU ON MATCHPOINT FOR THE SEVEN CROWN DREAM! It seems we are going to see the miracle of a player winning all major titles. Habu won game 3 of the Osho-match last Friday and now only needs to win one of the four remaining game to become a legend. Actually, if Tanigawa wins he will be a legend too, since no player has ever come back from 3-0 down in a best-of-seven match. Game 3 was a hineribisha and as far as I can judge it, it was more or less a clean victory by Habu. I felt that Tanigawa was a bit better in the early middle game, but that may just have been an illusion (maybe Shukan Shogi has more tomorrow). Anyway, on Friday afternoon it soon became clear that Habu had all the attacking options and at about 18.10 Tanigawa resigned. Game 4 will be played on February 13th & 14th. I am thinking about putting the moves "life" on my homepage, so that anyone who is interested can follow this historic game. Those interested please raise their hands (or voices in this case).
