Agreed!  In fact, they are just about the ONLY books in English on Shogi.
 I've been seeing the tranlating going on the shogi-l and am happy for it.
 Those efforts are helpful and appreciated.  Having spent far too long with
no strong opponents to learn from, accessible higher level books would be
very helpful.  Of greatest help has been the opening joseki I've been seeing
here.  I can read enough Japanese to get through a tsumeshogi or tsugi no
itte book, but anything on opening theory has so much text it is useless to
me until I learn much more Japanese.
