How is it tracked? Are regualr chess clocks used? response I think this actually refers to the person who is calling out the time. When i was entered in a college tournament in Japan when your clock ran out you asked for a "byoyomin." The person calls the amount of time left. For example if it is thiryt second moves, person says 15 seconds, 10 seconds, 9,8,7,... But this also varies from format to format, I have also seen clocks used. David parry dparry midway uchicago edu
