Perhaps Miura has a stronger character than I thought! But then again, > you have to have a strong character to beat Habu! > > Back to the Japanese study books :-), > Reijer > > -- > Aug. 8/96 Beste Reijer: It is a very nice story regarding Miura 5-Dan as professional Kishi. He takes it a rule to follow two things in his daily life: 1. Miura has never taken part in the study meeting with other professionals like Shima-Ken (Shima 8 Dan's shogi study gathering with Habu, Sato, Moriuchi etc) Miura studies shogi 10 hours per day at least by himself, from which, we can understand that Miura thinks other opinion is no use for him and thinks he is the stronger player than others. There is a funny story about Miura. At the Kisei match in 1995, he brought many shogi books into the hotel to study shogi where the title match was held. A Senpai pro. gave him a caution not to do such behavour because somebody will doubt that Miura will read the book and follow the strategy. Miura, actually, had big shock since he merely wish to study shogi as usual even during Kisei mactch done by himself. 2. Miura decided not to go to Bar or Karaoke or Night-Club till he becomes 30 years of old, so he has never enjoyed it with other pros. He still keeps it very strictly. This is Miura New Kisei. Naito(9-Dan) and Kawaguchi(6-Dan) said; his outlooking reminds us of MIYAMOTO MUSASHI. Yes, I agree that his life style also seems to have many common points with Musashi.
