From: Phil Holland BCS ORG UK> Date: 29 apr 1996 Subject: SHOGIV41.ZIP problems This message is directed, initially, to about 20 subscribers of SHOGI-L: A number of Shogi players who received a uuencoded copy of my Shogi Variants PC program (SHOGIV41.ZIP) have reported having problems running it under Windows 95. Please can I ask everyone who has received a copy and has (or has not) been able to get the software to work to email me with details of their operating system. I tested the software using a preview version of Win95, and now am having doubts about whether it was a reasonable test environment. If there is anyone else who would like to try the software for themselves, please email me direct and I will send them a copy. The software, which is written in Visual Basic 3.0, requires the following files, which should be available from the Microsoft WWW site: VBRUN300.DLL, CMDIALOG.VBX, COMMDLG.DLL I think I can convert the software quite easily to a 16-bit Visual Basic 4.0 form which should be more compatible with Win95, but it would require a large number of additional files, most of which can be obtained from the VBTT pages as a ready to run installation program (something like VB4RUN16.EXE): http://www.apexsc.com/vb/davem/vbttdl.html Anyone interested in a VB4 version should email me direct as well. Sorry to all those not interested in PC Shogi for taking up space on SHOGI-L.
