Subject: how many profis are there?

hello,
the subject-line says it all ...
i was asked the other day how many shogi-pro there are in japan. somehow my
memory came up with the number of 140, but no details.
so: is the number of 140 shogi-pros still correct? how would they split up on
the on the different ranks? especially, of course, the ranks from 5. dan
upwards.
any takers?
