From: "Randal J. Andrews" IX NETCOM COM> Date: 14 apr 1996 Subject: No subject Would someone please e-mail the details of the Ladies' shogi match to be played in Atlanta next month. I deleted it because I didn't think I could go, but now maybe I can go. Does this game take place during the Olympics? Or do the Olympics start later, during the summer? I've discovered a way to play shogi on ISS, (or now on IGS) with a graphical interface if you are using windows. You must obtain the shogivar program described earlier. Run shogivar simultaneously with your online session of ISS. When you logon toggle verbose off, so that you only receive your opponent's last move. By opening two windows, one for ISS and one for shogivar, you can use the graphical board from shogivar. You still have to type moves, but maybe this is an improvement? If lag is bad at ISS, you could even use shogivar somewhere else like FICS (chess server), but the chess server won't keep track of your moves so disputes could arise. Anyone have an idea when ISS will be back up?
