Subject: DC Shogi Results

     4-dan Fujiwara Yusufumi of New York dominated play at the
     DC Shogi Club tournaments held this past weekend in the
     Washington, DC area.
     Mr. Fujiwara swept the field in the Eastern Ryu-o on Sunday
     with a perfect 5-0 score. Second was 3-dan Asakura, also of
     the New York Shogi Club. 4-dan Sango of the DC Shogi club
     placed third. Top 3-dan went to Marc Theeuwen, visiting from
     the Netherlands! The field of 18 players was very strong,
     including 5-dans Nakazawa and Watanabe from New York.
     Mr. Fujiwara also won the handicap (koma ochi) tournament
     held on Saturday. Second place went to Egoshi Hiroaki of the
     DC Shogi Club. George Fernandez directed both events.
