From: "Samuel H. Sloan (my real name)" AOL COM> Date: 30 oct 1995 Subject: Re: Sloan vs. Hodges The World Chess Champion, Alexander Alekhine, was a Nazi who wrote Nazi Propaganda for the Germans during World War II. Still, nobody burns his books. He was one of the greatest chess players of all time and his games are played and studied by every aspiring chess player the world over. One thing has nothing to do with the other. However, if you want to burn the books of Alekhine, feel free. Go to the local chess book store, buy his "My Best Games of Chess" in three volumes, and burn them. The publisher will be happy. There is, by the way, a new book out with translations of Nazi propaganda written by Alekhine. The author of the book is Francis X. Mar. The information about what Alekhine actually wrote and did for the Nazis has been long supressed for years. No, I have not seen or read the book yet. I have just heard about it. Sam Sloan
