Thanks to RjHare's Web page, I found out the rules for Tori-Shogi.
Thanks to Schmittberger's  NEW RULES FOR CLASSIC GAMES, I found ou
..out the rules for Chu Shogi.
I bought some cardboard and drew up a 7x7 board (for Tori) and a 12x12
board (for Chu). I made up the needed pieces out of cardboard and my
friend and I played both games.
  I must say we had a great time. I think Tori and Chu are wonderful
games that shouldn't be missed.

Note for Tori Shogi-- The only way we could get a Goose (promoted swallow)
to threaten a Phoenix (king) was to drop a swallow and then move it one
space to promote it to the Goose. ;)
