Unfortunately these are about the most generic and common bombs there are, so that doesn't help much. Address errors are usually bugs in the software, but I just downloaded GnuShogi and it runs fine on my system (7100 with System 7.5). Since it's crashing right at the outset the program might be corrupted (try downloading again), although it's equally likely that the version you downloaded is incompatible with your system (you didn't say what type of Mac you had). Another thing always worth trying is increasing the memory partition in the "Get Info" box.
