Those are great.  Does anyone know of any English web pages that currently
give rules for other variants?

I've heard that the network provider "NIFTYSERVE" in Japan has a SHOGI
forum for fairy chess variants, Thai chess, etc.  I don't have access to
this nor do I read Japanese.  But if anyone who does would be so kind as to
translate the text of those pages into English, I would be happy to make
web pages for them and publish them on my web site for all us Westerners to
access!

His stuff ain't cheap though.  For example, I could get "Shogi For
Beginners" is $25.00 through him.  Or I could go to a bookstore (e.g.
BookSite at http://www.booksite.com:8000/) and get 10% off its U.S. list
price of $11.95.  Hmm...

His rule leaflets for Shogi variants range from $5.00 to $16.50 each.

Hodges also sells an 88-page "Chu Shogi" book he wrote for $50.  Anyone
know if it's good quality?  If you want to learn the rules to Chu Shogi, a
