Subject: Arend van Oosten not successful in Ama Ryu-O

I received a postcard from Arend van Oosten this morning. As some of you
know, he had been invited by the Yomiuri Shimbun to play in the amateur
Ryu-O tournament held in Tendo last weekend. Alas, just like the other
European representatives Stephen Lamb (1989), David Murphy (1991) and
myself (1993), he has not been able to win a game against the strongest
amateurs of Japan. After losing two games his tournament was over.
