We have a material paper on computer shogi.

H.Matsubara and H.Iida: An Evaluation of Sterength of Shogi
Programs by a Next-Move Test Set, Bulliten of Electrotechnical
Laboratory, vol.59, no.4, pp.25-57 (1995)

Iida-san (Pro. 5-dan) selected 48 problems from professional
records and we made several programs (Kiwame, Morita-shogi,
Kakinoki-Shogi, AI-shogi) and human subjects solve them.
This paper is written in Japanese (we have a plan to rewrite
it in English), but you can read most of them if you understand
Shogi positions and records in Japanese.
