From: Hiroki Kawada VM TAU AC IL> Date: 13 apr 1995 Subject: Meijin title match and things Habu beated Morishita in the first game of Meijin title match. Morishita was nearly mating Habu's King, but it escaped by Morishita's fatal mistake. About two-third of professional players spreaded over Japan and they commented on the game in front of audiences. The image of the game board was simultaneously relayed there. Also in the satelite TV the game was broadcasted. I watched it all day long on the last Saturday. Recently some professional players appeared in TV commercials. Mr. Habu sings a short song in a yogurt commercial. He has become famous in a commercial of an organization of mathematics education. Lady fans of Mr. Habu are now increasing. What they really like is Mr. Habu's hands. In TV programs of shogi games, players' hands frequently appear above the shogi board. Some of lady fans only look hands appearing in TV screen though they don't know how to move shogi pieces. Hands and fingers of professional players look elegant because they don't carry things heavier than shogi pieces. Hiroki Kawada * "After the defeat Mechanical Engineering Res.
