From: Michael Fitz LAMBADA OIT UNC EDU> Date: 23 mar 1994 Subject: Western Shogi Quarterly? And yet another question.... Anybody out there remember the Western Shogi Quarterly? It came out for a few years back in the mid-80s. It was maybe 20-30 stapled sheets per issue published by this guy in Washington or Oregon with a Macintosh. It had some pretty good info for what it was. The publisher had his quirks; he was always insisting he was one step closer to being a "real" magazine; he didn't like Japanese piece symbols; he was trying to sell shogi to chess and go players with a "your game sucks" attitude. It all came to an end when this guy sends a letter to his audience that essentially said "I have to stop publishing because they're after me and you all know who _they_ are". Does anyone know what _really_ happened? Thanks, Mike Fitz (Mike.Fitz lambada oit unc edu)
