Suppose you have no pieces in hand, or only ones you can't use because there's nowhere legal you can put them. Suppose, also, that all your pieces on the board have no moves at all. (They are all blocked by the edge of the board or your own pieces) What happens? I suspect this is almost impossible to accomplish in a real game, but such positions can certainly be invented. I expect the NSR would feel you had lost. Any Japanese reader have an opinion on this?
