From: Kevin Moore HOLONET NET> Date: 24 aug 1994 Subject: Shogi computer programs Here is my research on computer shogi programs. It is a history of computer shogi up until 1990. Unfortunately I don't have the most recent breakthroughs. These are for the Japanese computers (PC-98, FM Towns, MSX etc.) The arcade programs are ones that are in arcade places in Japan, just sit down with a few coins and try to keep winning. Corrections and additions are welcome, I suspect my kanji readings and romanization have minor inaccuracies. This is in the format Name of program, 'company name', year, computer type, price Hon Shogi 'adenshi' 1982 arcade (200yen) OuShou 'Kyariirabu' 1983 PC-98 (6000yen) Shogo Part II 'adenshi' 1984 arcade (200yen) Hisha 'Kyariirabu' 1984 PC-98 (6800yen) SMC Shogi 'Sony' PC-98 (7000yen) Shogi Kyou 'Bingusoft' FM-7 (5800yen) MSX Shogi 'Ponika' MSX pasocon (4900yen) Shogi Meijin 'Aporotekunica' PC-98 (4800yen) Koma 'Emuaiee (MIA?)' This cartridge lets you play 5 different "personalities" : Kanki Hiromitsu, Hayashiba Naoko, Kobayashi Kenji, Tsukada Yasuaki, Tanigawa Kouji These all have extras like tsume problems and 'guess the next move' I saw one newer Super Famicom cartridge in June this year that I think was very new, (I didn't notice it in the previous fall) but I didn't get the name or any info. These Super Famicom ones will apparently work with an adapter with Super Nintendo. BTW, I here is a quote regarding whether a different voltage would have any effect (I am only quoting) : >Moreover we must plug the Nintendo into correct 100V supply, >or it becomes weaker because of mulfunctioning of LSI's in the Nintendo. These prices are what you might pay IN JAPAN. Kevin Moore mrkeys holonet net (I will eventually return your email, but it won't be until mid-October when I get back off a ship)
