Kiwame II is the strongest >Shogi program in existence, supposedly 2-dan. Do you have any >news, Hiroki ? Yes I have news, but not for KiwameII. "Morita Shogi" for PCs is on market now in Japan. In the last week a Shogi player in Berlin bought it with my personal help. We can play not only normal games but also solve Tsume-Shogi (mate problems). I cannot rate the strength of "Morita Shogi" yet. But speed of solving problems is incredibly fast. He, Morita Shogi, solves a 15 moves problems in a few seconds (with Intel 386 DX 40 MHz). The software requires 'Japanese' DOS, called DOS/V. If one uses the normal European DOS, the letters in menu bars becomes invisible. But it doesn't matter for most of western players who cannot read Japanese. If one knows position and function of each menu bars, he can manage operating the software. But manual is, of course, written in Japanese. So it is difficult to find function of each menu bars. Also one cannot use QEMM (Quater Deck) with Morita Shogi, otherwise the PC hangs up. Anyway, it works! There is one more software for PCs, that I know at this moment, is 'AI Shogi'. I guess it may work in the same way as in Morita Shogi. They rate 'AI Shogi's strength as 2 or 3 kyu. I don't know when 'KiwameII for PCs' will be on market. Tomorrow, I will mail adress of those companies. Any questions are wellcome. Hiroki Hiroki Kawada * "After being defeated Abt.
