Subject: European Shogi Championship

The European Shogi Championships 1994 will be held over the weekend
of 20/21 August in the exciting city of Brussels, Belgium.

General
-------
The tournament has two separate groups, one for dan players and
one for kyu players. A Swiss pairing system will be used and time
is 60 minutes per person per game plus 30 seconds byoyomi. The venue
is: RIKAB, Prins Boudewijnstraat 71, Ganshoren (Brussels); phone:
+32-2-428 20 13. Participation and full board are free for the
participants of the Dan group. For the Kyu group fees are: entry
400 BF (US$ 13), bed + 3 meals 600 BF (US$ 19) per night, any meal
100 BF (US$ 3.20).

Dan group
---------
In the Dan group 8 rounds will be played. The first one starts on
Friday 19 Aug at 14:00 and the last one finishes at about 15:30 on
Sunday 21 Aug. If two or more players tie for first place, there will
be play-offs. These will be played on Sunday (if two players tie for
first place) or on Sunday 21 Aug and Monday (!!) 22 Aug if more than
two players tie for first place. Any other tie will be broken by the
standard tie-break criteria.

Kyu group
---------
In the Kyu group 6 rounds will be played. The first one starts on
Saturday 20 Aug at 10:00 and the last one finishes at about 18:00 on
Sunday 21 Aug. There will not be any play-offs in the Kyu group. Ties
will be broken by the standard tie-break criteria.
