From: Adam Chalcraft PHOENIX CAMBRIDGE AC UK> Date: 16 apr 1994 Subject: The Shogi ladder Okay, all, it's time for me to retire as Shogi ladder administrator. Please form an orderly queue in your rush to take over the job. Seriously, we need someone to take over. When I took the job I was the only candidate, and I had to have my arm twisted to take it, but actually it's involved me in not much work, and it's been fun watching the ladder grow in size, and people move around on it. The reason I can't continue, is that the computer I'm using to administrate it is doomed, and the only other computer I have access to is not connected to the rest of the world, and never going to be. I'll offer any amount of advice to anyone willing to take over, but I really don't forsee any problems. "Official administrator for a world-wide Shogi tournament" might be stretching the point slightly, but it might be useful on a CV? Thank you, everyone who uses the ladder. I hope it continues to be as successful in the future. Happy Shogi playing! If you're interested, please tell the Shogi list (shogi-l technion bitnet) so that everyone gets to know the state of play. If you have any specific questions about the job, mail me direct. - Adam.
