Movement of the pieces and the promotion rule are identical to those of the "real" shogi. Check will move the turn to the person whose king is checked. As you have three opponents, two of them moving sideways, it is almost impossible to predict the moves ahead. You are free to attack any one of the three opponents. If your king is captured first, you take the last place finish. The next to lose the king will be the third place. The game will be officially over at this point. Among the two who survived, the one who captured the king of one or both of the losers will be the winner. If both survivors captured the king from one of the losers, the one who has more pieces at the end will be the winner. --- end of caption deleted --- >From the picture in the magazine, I can see that the initial setup of the pieces is as follows. The setup is identical to all four players sitting at the four sides of a regular shogi board. P P R P S G K G S K=King(Oh), R=Rook(Hisha), G=Gold(Kin), S=Silver(Gin), P=Pawn(Fu). (Bishop, Lance, and Knight are not used.) Looks like fun. But I have no way of finding out as I don't know three people who can play shogi here. Too bad. --- t nagasaki columbia edu>
