There is a patchfile for doing this for version 1.1 at our FTP server. Connect to ftp.forwiss.uni-passau.de (132.231.1.10) and cd to pub/local/shogi. The patchfile is included in an email, so you could contact the author of the patch in case of trouble. For playing realtime over the net, you can use XShogi (based on X Windows) directly and connect to another display. Another way is to use XShogi to connect to the ISS. This provides a graphical interface. A third way is to connect to ISS (Internet Shogi Server) directly. This provides just a textual interface. telnet 130.91.160.217 6969 This is the site of the Internet Go Server (IGS) which also supports Shogi (XShogi also connects to this server). You then can login as "guest". If you do not find out how to play Shogi, I could look for more details. But it seems that there are not much Shogi players at the moment using the server (unfortunately). Good luck, Matthias. mutz fmi uni-passau de
