Dear Andrew,

All commercial Shogi softwares in Japan are only for NEC personal
computer or NINTENDO (Super)-Family Computer. Mac and IBM-PC are
not so popular among Japanese cosutomers (of course programmers
and researchers in Japan use them).

I heard a commercial Shogi software for IBM-PC was available from
ISHI-press, but I don't know the detail.
