From: Alan Sawyer EMBL-HEIDELBERG DE> Date: 11 mar 1993 Subject: Fifth file ranging rook. Hi, Can anyone help me? I am interested in broadening my repertoire of openings, and am interested in learning about fifth file ranging rook. I know that this was extensively covered in the British publication "Shogi" but since Pieter Stouten has left I no longer have access to these magazines. If anyone can/is willing to, could they post the details of the opening over the server, showing the ideal shape, how to get there, what to look out for, and where and how to make a castle, and what attacking chances there are. Thanks in advance, Alan Sawyer. The views expressed in this e-mail have got nothing to do with me, and it is all the fault of the organization I am employed by, my old headmaster, and society in general.
